Dear Neighborhood Leaders,
Monday night’s Northeast Neighborhood Alliance meeting had some important subjects discussed which certainly affect all of us.
Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai gave us the big picture view for investing in a new Spurs Arena and other associated plans known as Project Marvel. He let us know about current negotiations with the Spurs, the County, the City and others and how to avoid using taxpayers’ money to support these initiatives and still keep the Spurs in San Antonio. More information on these issues can be found at:
https://www.bexar.org/CivicSend/ViewMessage/message/226991.
We heard all about the City’s Near Northeast Community Area Plan from Project Manager Heather Yost. She pointed out that this project is part of the City’s SA Tomorrow Plan which looks at long-range issues such as public transportation, infrastructure, connectivity and much more. You can learn more about these programs by visiting the website: https://nearnortheast.sacompplan.com. For specific questions you can call Heather at 210-207-7919.
Councilman Marc Whyte explained the City’s latest issues including the closing of the Migrant Resource Center, his views on a new Spurs Arena, our Northeast Corridor economic developments, and the latest on how to simplify the City’s residential permitting process. Additional information on these subjects is available at: www.sanantonio.gov.
We once again owe a big THANK YOU to all those who organized and assisted with this meeting including the staffs for District 10 and the NE Senior Center, and door prize and other contributions to the NNA from John Clamp, Ray Cacace, Karen Davis, Roy Schauffele, Paul Merrell, Dottie Kimbley, Jo Alexander, Myrtle and Bob Parks, Reinette King, Kevin Crozier, Erika and Louis Guzman, Jan Kirby, Theodore Slansky, and the Northeast Coalition.
Please remember the next District 10 Community Meeting is set for March 17th, 6:30 p.m. at the NE Senior Center and our next NNA meeting will be the Mayoral and District 10 Candidates Forum on April 21st (also at the NE Senior Center). Invited candidates will be on the May 3rd Election ballot. Early voting begins April 22nd through April 29th.
Let’s all share this information with our neighbors and let them know if they missed the meeting, they can see a video of it by clicking on:
